About the BLUR 5
A long term staple of the Santa Cruz lineup, in recent years the Blur has been their full on XC and pedalling focused race platform. That's still true of the newest Blur 5 with a sub 2kg frame weight making light builds and crazy uphill speeds possible, but some big geometry and design changes also make this the most trail friendly Blur we've seen in many years.
A slight bump up in travel to 120mm at the rear combines with substantial increases in Reach, slackened angles and a more progressive linkage to give the Blur 5 a set of angles and on trail manners that's closer to a modern trail bike than the XC bikes of old. If you've never ridden a modern XC bike like this, you'll be shocked by how fast they can descend on most trails.
Add to that in frame storage, mounting points for tools and you've suddenly got a bike that's up for much more than just XC racing alone. Take it bike packing, go for massive single track rides, set PB's up and down your local trail centre or simply get gravel miles ridden in massive comfort; this bike can cover a huge range of bases well.

FAQ
Is there a rider weight limit on the Blur 5?
There is, but it's high! The Blur is stiff and solid enough for hard trail riding and the max rider weight is set at 123kg.
Can I put a longer fork on the Blur if I want to?
A 130mm fork is totally fine to fit if you want to build an even more trail focused Blur for yourself.
Can I swap shocks?
You can. Pretty much all lower volume air shocks will be fine but there isn't clearance for a larger shock like an X2 or a Vivid. The shock size is 190mm x 45mm.
Can I change rotor size?
Only on the fork, the rear is 180mm only.
What's the maximum tire size?
2.4', but tires vary from one manufacturer to another. If you are swapping brand, then always eyeball the rear tire once installed to make sure there's plenty of space between it and the frame.
