The Hope floating rotor is one of their iconic products, with a lazer cut 1.9mm steel rotor mounted to an anodised inner aluminium carrier. The construction saves weight, resists warping and allows for touches of colour to be added to a bike, with the central aluminium carrier coming in Hope's full compliment of colours.
Available in a wide range of sizes, the Universal Floating disc is compatible with all Hope brakes (and most others) and best of all, they're not even expensive.
FAQ
Can I use one of these with other brands of brake?
Probably! The rotors have been deliberately designed with a taller braking track in order to make them compatible with as many different calibers and pads as possible.
What size rotor should I pick?
It depends on what you want. Bigger rotors add noticeable power and cooling to your brake and Hope manufactures a mount for almost every size combination, so if you are pairing this rotor with one of their brakes, you are free to choose any disc size you like. If you are overheating or struggling for power with your current brakes, then go bigger. If you’re looking to take the edge off a powerful brake or save weight then smaller. We’re always happy to try and advise in the shop so give us a call if you’re not sure.
Can I mount them onto a non Hope hub?
Normally yes, but read this first. The carrier is wider than a regular disc brake rotor, so if you are planning on mounting these to another brand of wheel, then you will need to check there is enough space between the rotor and your bikes swigngarm and the brake mount on your fork. In some cases you might find that the aluminium carrier runs very close to the frame or fork, and that case we would suggest the regular Universal Disc as a better option.
