Designed and produced by Hope right here in the UK, the new EVO brakes take the already benchmark Tech 4’s and add a host of improvements to elevate their performance even further.
The dedicated gravity brake in the lineup, the GR4 is the one to pick for anyone who is hard on their brake system with more than enough power and heat management for bigger riders, DH racing and E-Bike use. A re-engineered master cylinder cam reduces free stroke and gives a firmer bite, while still maintaining the modulation and feel that Hope brakes have become so well loved for. A new master cylinder bleed port also allows bleeds with less mess, as the top reservoir cover no longer needs to be removed during the process. At the caliper end, the pistons have been enlarged, giving around 6% more power than the previous V4.
There’s a wide range of brake pads available catering to all conditions, along with a choice of either Floating or 2.3mm Universal Discs to pick from. Colour options allow you to match with almost any bike and there are matchmakers for all shifter and dropper systems and mounts for every rotor size. Both left and right brakes come supplied with 1700mm brake hoses, so are usable for either UK or Euro / US setups.

FAQ
Is the GR4 compatible with all Hope rotors?
You can use the GR4 with either the 2.3mm Universal Disc, or the 1.9mm Universal Floating Disc. We’d generally recommend the 2.3mm Universal discs for the best performance and clearance, especially if mounting the disc to a hub from another manufacturer. The GR4 is not compatible with the Hope Vented Floating Rotor.
What kind of oil do they use and how do I bleed them?
The GR4 and TR4 are both best used with DOT 5.1 fluid. To bleed your own system, you’ll need the Hope Easy Bleed Kit.
What do the different Hope pad colours mean?
Hope offer a range of pads for different riding conditions and lever feels.
Choose Green for fastest break in and excellent heat management.
Choose Red for all conditions performance and quiet operation.
Choose Purple for exceptional heat resistance and all weather performance.
Choose Gold for maximum durability in foul conditions.
What else will I need along with the brake?
If you have your shifter or dropper integrated with your brake lever then you’ll also need Hope Shifter Mounts to attach them. There are separate mounts for left and right, SRAM and Shimano so message us if you need help to work out which ones you require for your bike.
You might also need brake mounts depending on which rotor size you have picked. The GR4 is not compatible with 20mm Shimano and SRAM mounts as the caliper will foul the mount. There are a lot of brake mount options, but we’re always happy to help you work out which ones you need.
