For steep and rough riding, many bikes cockpits are simply too low in their stock configuration and for those who don't want a giant stack of spacers under their stem, a higher rise bar is the obvious solution, adding height without sacrificing reach.
The higher position takes weight off the arms, and if you are coming from an overly low setup, then it can feel like your fork suddenly has an extra 20mm of travel with impacts feeding far less force back into the body. FAQ
How do I know how much height to add?
We'd suggest not going instantly crazy, unless your current setup feels hugely off. +10mm is a noticeable difference and 20mm feels like a major change, so most of the time we'd suggest jumping by no more than that much from whatever your current bar rise is.
Is it possible to go too high?
It is for sure. if you go far too high, then you'll find that you don't have enough weight on the front wheel when descending, which will lead to the front of the bike feeling very light and potentially understeering. As above, try about 20mm more than your current setup to feel a defined difference.
Can you cut my bars down for me?
Absolutely. Add a message to your order and we can trim to whatever size you like. Just remember you can't go wider again, so if you're not sure, err slightly on the side of wide.
